Explorations in Art, Spirit & Life

Welcome

These are my field notes — observations gathered from the landscapes of life and work. This is where art, soul, and lived experience intersect.
You’ll find poetry, imagery, reflections on energy and spirit, and the quiet documentation of a life being shaped with care. Read slowly. Take what resonates. Leave what doesn’t.
This space is for the curious, the contemplative, and the creatively alive. — Jess

There’s something about slowing down in the kitche There’s something about slowing down in the kitchen that just feels good. The chopping, stirring, tasting, a little music playing, and nowhere else you need to be. 🍝🤎 Sunday well spent. ❤️
We planted these two Autumn Blaze Maples in our ve We planted these two Autumn Blaze Maples in our very first year in this home, never really knowing what they would one day become. And now, every autumn, they stop me in my tracks. ❤️🍁 It got me thinking about how much life is like that. Sometimes, we don’t see the growth while we’re living it. We’re too busy tending to the everyday, weathering the storms, navigating the seasons, and doing our best to keep putting one foot in front of the other. We don’t always notice how far we’ve come until we stop, turn around, and look at what we’ve grown. Because the most important growth happens beneath the surface. In the roots we cannot see. In the quiet moments of choosing each other. In the hard seasons that teach us how to bend without breaking. In the love that keeps reaching deeper, even when life gets complicated. Our marriage. Our family. Our life. Like these trees, we’ve grown through seasons we couldn’t have predicted. Some beautiful, some difficult, all of them becoming part of our story. And while the roots have been growing quietly underground, the evidence is here — in the life we’ve built, the memories we’ve made, and the years that have shaped us. Maybe that’s the thing about growth. It doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes, you have to look back to see it. Sometimes, you have to stand still long enough to recognize the beauty of what you’ve built. The roots tell the story of everything it took to grow. The branches tell the story of everything that became possible because they did. 🌳 And sometimes, all it takes is a brilliant autumn morning in your own backyard to remind you that even when you can’t see the growth happening, it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Look how far we’ve grown. 🍂❤️
IT’S OFFICIALLY SOUP SEASON 🥣 My first pot of the IT’S OFFICIALLY SOUP SEASON 🥣 My first pot of the fall season — and if you know me, you know this is basically my version of a love letter. I’m a wordsmith. I have plenty of words. But sometimes you don’t need words. Sometimes you need a big pot of something warm, creamy and comforting, made with tomatoes from my mother-in-law’s garden and basil from the old man down the street. Because cozy food is a hug from the inside. 🤍 This is the kind of meal that says: ✨Come sit down. ✨Stay awhile. ✨Have another bowl. And maybe that’s why soup is my love language. First pot of the season. Definitely not the last. 🍂❤️ 🍅 Creamy Tuscan Chicken & Tomato Soup #soupismylovelanguage @soupismylovelanguage
