So the question isn’t how to escape it… but what you’re willing to create from it????
I am a whole story with or without a witness. Not I am a whole story with or without a witness. Not a draft. Not a footnote. Not a whisper waiting for applause. A whole story. Bound in skin and bone, stitched together by longing, edited by fire, and still — still — refusing to be reduced to a single genre. This is about seeing yourself. Not through the glass of someone else’s approval. Not through the narrow doorway of who you were told to be. But standing in the wide field of your own becoming and saying — I see you. I see the paradox. The soft woman with steel in her spine. The wild contradiction — both lighthouse and storm, both healer and hunger, both holy and human. Range is not confusion. Range is aliveness. The ocean is not ashamed that it can be still at dawn and violent by midnight. It does not apologize for its depth. It does not ask permission to change moods. Why should you? We need variety like we need breath. We need play like we need pulse. We need creation — because to create is to declare: I was here. But the real art — the sacred art — is how you see yourself when no one is clapping. How you validate your own experience when it would be easier to shrink it. How you whisper, “That mattered,” after a quiet win no one else noticed. How you honour the effort — the showing up, the trying again, the choosing dignity over drama, growth over comfort, truth over applause. You are not powerful because someone confirmed it. You are powerful because you exist in full colour even in a dark room. You are not confident because someone crowned you. You are confident because you learned to witness yourself. To say — I felt that. I survived that. I built that. I desired that. I deserve that. You are a whole story with or without a witness. But when you become your own — when you sit in the front row of your own life and refuse to look away — That is when the plot thickens. That is when the light hits differently. That is when the world begins to mirror back what you finally believed. See yourself. Not as a performance. Not as potential. But as presence. Complete. Contradictory. Becoming. My art is not just what I create—it’s how I see. F My art is not just what I create—it’s how I see. For over 16 years, I’ve had the privilege of capturing women, couples, and families in a way that honours their love—but truthfully, this began long before that. I’ve had a camera in my hands since I was a kid, instinctively drawn to the feeling of a moment, not just the image of it. Photography was never something I learned—it’s something I grew within. What started as quiet curiosity became devotion, and over time, refined itself into a way of witnessing people as they truly are—soft, powerful, layered, real. There is gentle guidance, but never performance. Only space to arrive as you are, to be seen without pressure, without pretending. What unfolds in front of my lens isn’t forced—it’s revealed. Something honest always finds its way through. This is how I see. This is how I create. When I was forced into stillness—knee up, life slo When I was forced into stillness—knee up, life slowed down, the outside world suddenly less loud—I didn’t just recover physically. I entered a long, quiet conversation with myself. And in that isolation, I started arriving at truths I hadn’t been able to hear before. Because there’s something about silence… real silence… that doesn’t just calm you. It reveals you. It strips away all the external influence, all the noise, all the ways we unconsciously shape ourselves to be perceived, accepted, understood. And what I came to understand is this: I hadn’t been fully sharing my life—not because I wasn’t creating, but because I didn’t feel safe enough to be seen in my full vulnerability. I was still photographing. Still writing. Still building entire worlds of thought, emotion, and imagery behind the scenes of my life. There was a depth of creation happening in private that no one has yet seen. I wasn’t bringing it forward. I was choosing that. Because somewhere along the way, I have had to learn to protect my expression. To hold it back. To keep parts of myself contained—not because they weren’t real, but because they felt too exposed, too personal, too open to be held safely by the world. And I know I’m not alone in that. I think many of us create far more than we share. We live entire inner lives that never make it to the surface. We birth ideas, emotions, art, and truth in private spaces… while only showing fragments of who we really are. But here’s what this season taught me—something I now carry forward as both truth and invitation: Your silence is not emptiness. Your private becoming is not wasted. And your hesitation to be seen does not mean your voice is any less powerful. Sometimes we don’t share not because we lack courage, but because we are still learning what safety feels like within our own expression. And maybe the invitation in all of this… is not to rush into being fully seen, but to gently ask ourselves where we are ready to be a little more honest, a little more visible, a little more real. Because I’m realizing that cocoon that holds you for a bit matters a great deal to your story. 🐛🦋
